ORGANIZATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (OMS)
WHAT IS OMS?
Instructional Technology recently converted to the same event management system, (OMS) that Stanislaus County Office of Education and the California State Department of Education use. If you have registered in the past for an event at SCOE you most likely did so through an OMS account. IT will be using this system from now on to schedule "open" training sessions throughout the District.
All users should be logged in to OMS before attempting to register for an event.
HOW TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT
Printable directions are available: How to Use OMS (pdf)
This account creation process is a little more personalized because it allows the account to be used in connection with county and state training events. In addition to your name and email info, you will be asked to enter your Position Category (drop-down menu), Grade Level (drop-down menu) and school site. It shouldn't take more than a minute or two at the most and only has to be done once.
If you don’t already have an OMS account (or if you are not sure), please go to the MCS OMS login page and click on Create Account to set up your OMS account. If you have previously created an OMS account for a SCOE event, you can login with that account as long as you used your MCS email address. If you have forgotten your password, follow the Password Forgotten directions. If you aren't sure if you already have an OMS account, go ahead and follow the new account creation process. After you have completed the initial account info and click Continue, it will automatically tell you if you have an account.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR AN EVENT IN OMS
BROWSE THE SESSION OFFERINGS
Return to the MCS OMS Login page.If you are still logged in to OMS your name will appear with a Welcome message at the top right of the page. If your name does NOT appear, please log back in using your MCS email address and the password that you used when you created the account.
Once you are logged in, the default display is the Month calendar view. You may find it easier to find specific session topics by using the List View or use the Browse View to search for it. Once you find a session that interests you, click on that link to see more information about it. There should be a topic description and a map link as well as contact information for the presenter.
REGISTER FOR A SESSION
As stated above, users should be logged in to OMS before attempting to register for a session.
Once you are in the actual session description page, (double-check that you are logged in to OMS and your name is visible at the upper left corner) there will be a bright yellow Click Here to Register button. If this is a session that you want to register for, go ahead and click the yellow button.
If your name is NOT visible, please register through the OMS Account Holders gray box, click on the Login Here to Register for Event and enter your MCS Email address and the password you created for this account.
Most sessions will take you to a page with a couple of additional questions that you will need to complete before you can finalize the sessions registration. The final screen provides some user directions. You will automatically receive an email confirmation of your registration. If you want to add this to your Outlook calendar, scroll to the bottom of this page and click on the Add to Calendar button. Then click Save and Open. Outlook will launch and give you a New Appointment window. Click the Save & Close button at the top left.
